FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WINDOW TINT
Why do I need window tint?
Window tint has many different benefits. Essentially all three of the films that we carry block 99% of the harmful UV rays. Our top tier film can block up to 94% Selective IR rejection capabilities. A few more reasons to get window film would be to protect the interior of your car and not have your A/C work as hard in those hot summer months. The window film even helps prevent pieces of glass from flying through the vehicle and causing injury.
What does window tint percent mean?
Window tint is determined by VLT (Visible Light Transmission.) Think about it as the percentage of light passing through the film. If you put on 5% tint, then 5% of light transmits through the window.
When can I roll down my newly tinted windows?
You need to wait at least 3 days. That gives the tint time to cure to the window. Rolling down your windows too early can cause the film to shift out of place or even cause adhesive issues down the road.
Is window tint applied inside or outside?
Window film is applied to the inside of the car but the process is started on the outside. We use all computer cut window tint patterns to get the perfect fit every time. Then we put the film on the outside to shrink the film to the curvature of the window. Giving a nice clean installation.
What is the difference between a dyed window tint and a ceramic window tint?
Both films are designed to block the harmful UV rays. Ceramic window film uses micro nano-ceramic particles to reject heat. Suntek’s dyed window film still blocks 99% of UV rays but does not block near the amount of heat.
PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF)
What is Paint Protection Film?
Paint Protection Film, also known as PPF or clear bra, is a virtually invisible film that goes on your paint to keep your car's paint looking brand new. PPF helps protect from rock chips, road debris, and minimize stains. Suntek’s PPF also has a self healing top coat to reduce surface scratches.
Can I install PPF on my ceramic coated vehicle?
Short answer is no, waxes, sealants, and protectives reduce the surface energy of the paint. Essentially what that means is it is harder for the PPF to adhere to the paint. We would strip the sealant off the paint by doing a non abrasive polish to the paint. We would then be able to apply ceramic coating back on top of the PPF in order to maintain easy washing.
Can I take PPF through an automatic car wash?
A lot of people do, but we would recommend hand washing your car. Most touch-less car washes use harsh detergents and high water pressure which can diminish PPF properties and eventually lead to the edges lifting.
Do I have to wrap my whole car?
No! You can pick and choose what areas you would want to protect. If you are mainly driving on the highway and deal with rock chips and road debris then add PPF to the highly exposed areas like the hood, bumper, fenders, and mirrors. We have different packages you may choose from.
CERAMIC COATING
What is ceramic coating?
Ceramic coating is a Silicon Carbide (SiC) that goes on your paint for long lasting protection. Ceramic coating is a microscopic hard coat that fills the pores of the clear coat. Making it extremely hydrophobic, providing the ease of maintenance, and it adds lustre and slickness.
What am I protected from?
So here are a few things you are protected from- fading, etching, oxidation, bird dropping, weathering, and dirt buildup. It provides superior resistance to swirling, chemical etching, and fading.
What are my options?
So you have a few different options when it comes to ceramic coating. We can protect the paint with a 5 year coating, 7 year coating, and even a lifetime coating. Not only can we do the painted surfaces, but we can also do the interior, wheels, glass and even the black plastic.
What are the steps?
We review the car for any major flaws or defects. We then hand wash the vehicle, iron removal/ clay bar. We polish the painted surfaces and do an additional polishing step if necessary. Alcohol wipe down the exterior and finally apply the ceramic coating to the car. After the vehicle has been ceramic coated we then review the vehicle for any imperfections and we let the car cure out of the elements for at least 12 hours.
How do I maintain my coating?
Maintaining your coated vehicle is very essential to a long lasting vehicle protection. It is recommended to use Optimum Polymer Technologies(PH Neutral) products to ensure safe cleaning. Bird droppings, tar, and sap should be removed as soon as possible to avoid staining or hardening on the coating.
How do ceramic coatings compare against dealer installed sealants?
Ceramic coatings are by far more durable than any coating you would often get from a dealership. Opti-Coat provides the warranty needed that many dealerships won't stand behind. Sealants often aren't as slick or don't provide the same gloss as a coating would.
